Beaches

Waterford's beaches, in addition to nestling in the warm heart of the 'Sunny South East', are some of the most beautiful in the country. The stretch of the coast between the tiny cove at Dunmore East and Ardmore on the county's western border contains more than 30 beaches. There are sandy dunes, cliff walks, water sports, nature reserves and places of historical interest to experience all along the way. There also large resort beaches located at Tramore in the east, Clonea in the centre and Ardmore in the more westerly part of the county, where waves roll up on silver sands that stretch as far as the eye can see.
The Copper Coast, now a designated European Geopark, is dotted with beautiful coastal landmarks, dunes, cliffs and clean beaches to visit or stay at. It offers small, sheltered beaches surrounded by rugged cliffs.

Tramore
The broad crescent sweep of Tramore's 5km strand is truly spectacular. It blends natural beauty with a lovely traditional seaside town feel.

Clonea
Clonea is another long, EU blue-flag beach that is safe for swimming; it also offers some lovely cliff walks.

Ardmore
Ardmore beach is another gorgeous destination, with its golden arc of sand overlooked by a hilly cliff with stunning views. The beautiful Ram Head cliff walk passes landmarks both old and new. Smaller beaches nearby include Goat Island, Ballyquin, the Currage and Whiting Bay.

Whatever your preferences for a maritime adventure or seaside chill-out, the extraordinary Waterford coast is sure to offer it.
