Held annually in late July, the festival commences with the procession in honour of St. Declan and a pageant depicting St. Declan's arrival in Ardmore, followed by Mass. In addition to the daytime activities and entertainment, the local pubs will provide musical entertainment throughout the Festival.
Many of this festival events are focused on the beach. The Busking by the Bay Competition will take place on Sunday. Highlights of the festival include live music concerts and exciting powerboating and sailing demonstrations. The festival promises a fun-packed weekend of entertainment and activities for all the family, and annual favourites include the sandcastle and fancy dress competitions, street games, storytelling, guided walks, football blitzes, pottery demonstration, children's puppet shows, an acrobatic display, car boot sale, artists' trail and fun water polo. The finale open-air concert takes place in front of St. Declan's Church.
There will be events to suit all ages, from a Teddy Bear's Picnic for toddlers to Musical Delights from bygone days for the more mature listener. The Festival Food & Craft Fair takes place on Sunday.
