Beach Pleasure – Clonea Strand
Take a walk on this long and wide sandy beach which has fantastic views and scenic walks.
Life guards are present at the beach throughout the summer months. Clonea holds an International Blue Flag award.

Abbeyside Boardwalk
Abbeyside beach is located on the outskirts of Dungarvan. It is a lovely quiet beach with a recently refurbished Boardwalk which is ideal for a stroll.

Waterford Greenway
The Waterford Greenway is a spectacular 46km off-road cycling and walking trail for every level of ability. It runs along an old railway line between Waterford and Dungarvan with breathtaking scenery to be enjoyed by young and old. Bike hire is available locally if required

Cycling and walking trails
Enjoy the many cycling and walking trails in the area which offer something for every level of ability.

Golf
There are 3 championship golf courses all within 10 minute’s drive of Dungarvan Town. Why not try the Golf Triangle?

Cunnigar Pitch and Putt Club
This magnificent 18 hole Championship course is located in picturesque Dungarvan Bay. Visitors are welcome all year round (weather permitting).

Drives
Take in the scenery of the Comeragh Mountains and the Nire Valley or enjoy the panoramic seascapes, cliffs, bays and coves of the Copper Coast.

Likewise take a drive to Helvick Head located in the Gaeltacht, this area offers many opportunities. A stroll along the lookout and enjoy a coffee and a treat afterward in Sola na Mara. Alternatively a spot of fishing off the pier is also an option

In Helvick ‘SOLAS na MARA’ is well worth a visit, to indulge yourself in Hot Seawater & Seaweed Baths and avail of the many Therapies and Message Packages on offer.

The Cunnigar
The Cunnigar is a sand spit which has formed across the mouth of Dungarvan Bay. It is a haven for nature lovers and bird watchers as many breeds of native Irish birds nest and breed. (Transport to Cunnigar required)

Dungarvan and West Waterford Art Trail
The Art Trail includes a number of galleries, studios and workshops. The Old Market House Arts Centre is open Tuesday to Friday 11am to 5pm (lunch 1.30pm to 2.30pm) and Saturdays 1pm to 5pm. Admission is free and all are welcome

Historical Walking Tours
Join local historian John M Young for an entertaining and informative tour of historical Dungarvan.

Museum
The Waterford County Museum which is dedicated to preserving and promoting local history is also well worth a visit, is centrally located and admission is free, it is open Monday to Friday 10am-5pm.

Dungarvan Castle
Dungarvan Castle is an Anglo-Norman fortification founded in the 12th century. It is open from the mid May to end of September. Admission is free.

Dining
There are many fine restaurants and pubs offering a wide range of choice and quality.

Swim
Take your pick of indoor heated swimming pools, saunas and steam rooms from the Park Hotel and The Gold Coast.

Pamper Yourself
Relax and unwind with a spa treatment or seaweed bath as already mentioned above. There are numerous beauty salons and where beauty and spa treatments are available. Hair salons and nail studios also have a strong presence in Dungarvan.

Shopping
Do some gentle shopping in our wide range of local retailers: Browse the many family run and branded stores that are located throughout the town. Also, there is a country market every Friday in Abbeyside between 10.30 am and 1.00, and a Farmers Market in Grattan Square every Thursday morning. If the weather turns inclement you can always enjoy shopping in comfort in the climate controlled Dungarvan Shopping Centre.

Nightlife
Enjoy a traditional music night in some of our local bars: Dungarvan has a great selection of pubs ranging from traditional styles to more contemporary design. There is a vibrant music scene in the area and you’ll never be short of a trad session any night over the summer or throughout the weekend during the winter months. (Check with the Tourist office for ‘What’s On Nightly’)

Afternoon Tea
Treat yourself to afternoon tea: Enjoy a traditional Afternoon in a number of elegant locations in Dungarvan. Afternoon tea’s include a wide range of sandwiches and savour the delicious pastries that are prepared daily by the pastry chefs.

Relax in our local library
As well as a comprehensive range of books the library provides daily papers, internet access and genealogy resources. The comfortable seating at the large windows overlooking the quay side makes the library a pleasant and relaxing place to go to peruse the local and national papers.

Gardens Stroll amongst some of our local Garden Trails
The Waterford Garden Trail features 14 different garden attractions ranging from the gardens of great old houses to smaller gardens and garden centres. The trail has something to offer everyone from the green of fingers to novices. Many of the gardens provide refreshments as well as toilets and parking facilities. A small number of gardens are open in the winter months so please contact the Tourist Office for an updated list.
