Fortwilliam Irish Country Cottages

Fortwilliam Irish Country Cottages are located in the beautiful surrounds of Fortwilliam Estate near the well known heritage town of Lismore in Co. Waterford.

Stable Cottage is situated in the Fortwilliam traditional Stable yard. There are three first floor bedrooms and a new bathroom with bath and shower and the cottage can accommodate up to six guests. On the ground floor there is a kitchen and sitting room with TV. There is a small garden to the front of the cottage and a covered area to the back for wellies and waders. The property has been refurbished in 2014.

Stewards Cottage is situated in the farmyard also, and it is a four bed-roomed cottage with one double bedroom on the ground floor and a large new wet-room. Three further bedrooms on the first floor provide total accommodation to sleep seven guests. The cottage has been recently renovated to a high standard. There is a kitchen, separate dining room and sitting room as well as an attractive garden on the southern elevation.

Fishermans Cottage is situated to the rear of the main house. It has 3 bedrooms and it can accommodate up to 5 guests. There is a kitchen and living area with 3 bedrooms which include a double, a single, a twin. There is a garden area for guests to enjoy on the west elevation of Fisherman’s cottage near the Tennis court.

Fortwilliam Estate provides a haven of privacy, peace and tranquillity. Herbs and produce in season, grown in the green house and walled gardens is freely and happily given to guests to enjoy which adds to the local experience of their stay. The walled garden is a bounty of colour at most times of the year with a rich variety of flowers and shrubs and visitors can expect the loveliest fresh flowers to welcome them on arrival. The Fortwilliam rose collection is a delight for rose enthusiasts and now numbers over 25 stunning varieties and rising. Throughout the summer months the scent and colour is exceptional.

Nearby there is also a golf course, the mountains and sea for visits and walks as well as a number of race courses in easy travelling distance. The Jameson whisky distillery at Middleton is well worth a visit as is the Crawford Art Gallery in Cork for Art lovers. The music scene is also well catered for , from local musicians playing in local pubs to the famous Lismore Castle opera which takes in May. A highlight is also the Booley house group who perform Irish music and dancing throughout August at Ballyduff just across the River. So there is plenty to do in and around Fortwilliam and Lismore and it is easy to get to, just 2 hours to the ferry at Rosslare ,and 2.5 hours drive to Dublin. While only 1 hour from Cork Airport.

All guests may use the tennis court and enjoy the gardens and grounds. Well-behaved dogs are welcome at Fortwilliam. All cottages have outside space for storage of waders, wellington boots and rods. Fishing gear can be hired. There is also personal fishing instructors available and a freezer for salmon catches.
