David is a self taught artist. He has been painting as a hobby for most of his adult life. He spent most of his working life working in the military aircraft industry which meant he spent many years as an instructor in the Middle East. Whilst there, he painted in his spare time and completed a large commission “Osprey” for the Royal Saudi air force and a number of other private commissions.
Haven Art Studio is situated in the town centre of Dungarvan opposite the Shamrock restaurant. A long corridor leads you to the studio and gallery into a surprisingly peaceful garden setting.
The studio and gallery are not a business, therefore it is not open every day, however he will always open by request.
David paints many subjects, but for the last six years he has concentrated his efforts on painting scenes of traditional Irish kitchens, they have become very popular and are in private collections in Ireland, UK, Spain, America, Australia and New Zealand. The gallery also exhibits work by other local artist. He also has completed many commissions.
David occasionally gives art lessons to beginners and accomplished artists.
