Dungarvan is a mecca for food lovers and fun seekers particularly during the annual West Waterford Festival of Food.  This beautiful coastal town of about 9,000 people has a pretty harbour used by leisure craft of all shapes and sizes and is further enhanced by the majestic Comeragh mountains in its background.  The Festival of Food’s programme has proven to be the perfect mix of free events and ticketed ones, an equally perfect mix of high end dining opportunities and casual bistro experiences and it certainly offers something for all ages. Its ethos is one of supporting local, local food producers, local restaurants & cafes and local retailers. The festival team is also drawn from the local community, so ticket collectors, parking attendants, ushers, guides and stewards are all local volunteers from across the town and region.

The weekend has also proven to be a magnet for Michelin star chefs such as Ross Lewis of Chapter One in Dublin, Derry Clarke of L’Ecrivain also Dublin based and Dutch chef Martijn Kajuiter of the Cliff House in Ardmore, Co. Waterford. Last year renowned London based chef Angela Hartnett joined the team in the much loved local restaurant The Tannery owned by couple Paul and Máire Flynn while the greatly admired Richard Corrigan is a frequent visitor and great supporter of the weekend. Previous years have seen visits from Ross Lewis and Richard Corrigan along with Fergus and Margot Henderson, Michael Quinn, Garrett Byrne, and Martijn Kajuiter.
